The newsroom is where I keep you updated on the status of the series. Any official progress made in the writing and publication of the series is to be posted here. This is probably the part of the site that will be most frequently updated. So it pays to check back often. 3/27/2010Top secret sources now confirm: 85% done.Chapter 47 has been revised. The reason it took so long is because it was even longer than chapter 46 was (but now 46 is longer because I shortened 47 by almost two pages). A lot of stuff happens in chapter 47. It contains both a character climax and an enormous revelation. It is one of the most important chapters in the whole book. It was extremely fun both to write and rewrite, but I have to move on, because I AM ALMOST DONE WITH THE WHOLE BOOK!!! I know my progress has been slow and 100% seems like a long way away, but consider this: chapter 51 is only three pages long, and chapter 53 is only seven pages long. If I had been calculating the percentages by number of pages instead of number of chapters, I would definitely be in the 90 percentile range, maybe even the 95 percentile range. In other news, I plan to update some of the old text on the website. Stuff on the FAQ and the "Books in the Series" page really could use a facelift. You might see some changes around here. 2/6/201084% Are you starting to get excited?Chapter 46 is done. It is the longest chapter in the book, but it didn't take long to revise because it was already pretty much how I wanted it to be. You'll love it, provided you ever get to read it. It's some of my best material so far. And it's even better now that it has been revised. I have to tell you I cannot wait until I'm done. I dearly want to go back and read the book from the beginning, but I'll wait until I finish the last chapter. In the meantime, the flash animation on the main page has been updated to reflect what time of year it is. And yes, I am rooting for the Colts to win the superbowl (to all the Saints fans out there: please don't hate me, but it's my site, so I'll root for whoever I want to). Flash is fun. I just wish I was skilled enough to make my entire website all Flash-y and shiny and colorful. 1/25/2010Flash in the PanYou may have noticed the new flash animation on the main page. Well, I am a computer science major, and as such, I need to learn as many computer-related skills as possible if I'm going to be competitive in this mad, mad world. So this weekend I decided I would try to learn flash. And the animation on the main page is my very first flash project. Granted, I'm far from being a professional Flasher (Not that kind of flasher! Clean out your dirty mind.), but for a first project I think it's pretty good. I am quite pleased with the end result. I'm not done toying with Flash, so you might see more things pop up on other pages of the site, given enough time. Or maybe not. I can't say at this point. But if I really get good at it, I might try to make a "Flash Stuff" page under the "Fun Distractions" link. I might even try my hand at a Keyers of Bryce Canyon Flash Game (even though I don't have the first clue about how to make games in flash) As always, people with questions, comments, complaints, etc. can email me. P.S.: You may have noticed that I've taken down all the old entries in the newsroom. Well, it is a new year, after all. And some of those entries were really, really out of date. 1/23/201082 percent of done on the wall! 82 percent of done!!!You take one down, pass it around; 82 percent of done of the wall! Yes, chapter 45 has been revised, though it took a while. And this time it's not because school or life got in the way. It's because I've been making excuses, and it was kind of a tough chapter. But in happier news, Christmas was awesome, and I'm doing pretty well in real life. Also, I can't believe it's 2010. Isn't this supposed to be the year that every sci-fi cliche becomes a reality? Aren't we supposed to have telepathic monkeys and flying cars and faster-than-light travel by now? Did all those hokey space movies of the twentieth century lie to me? But as long as I get this revision done before the next millenium, I don't really need any more technological miracles. And for those of you who are still keeping track, I hope to be able to go a lot quicker from now on. If I don't, feel free to pester me via email until I go fast enough for you. You'd be doing me a favor. |
